In Memory of the Sexually Mutilated Child

In Memory of the Sexually Mutilated Child

In memory of all the children throughout history

who have died at the hands of sexual mutilators;

and in memory of those who almost died,

those who wanted to die,

and those who wished they had died;

and in memory of those who never knew

that a sexual mutilator killed

a beautiful, wondrous, irreplaceable part of them.

Some Statements

"I want to know why doctors mutilate women. I want to know
why they mutilate male babies. I want to know what compels
mutilators to mutilate.
It's not just money. I want to know if
the percentage of doctors who cut genitals is higher among
doctors whose own genitals have been cut. Is male infant
circumcision at the bottom of all this cutting? Is it?

"I wish I could circumcise every uncircumcised man

Private communication

.

"What turned me off the whole circumcision scene was
to read a report recently about a bunch of men nursing
erections as they watched a shrieking baby having his
foreskin cut away. When I contemplate the perfection
and symmetry of my little boy's body, including his penis,
I feel a sense of pride at having produced such a beauty,
and I shudder that there are perverts, like I describe, who
would actually take pleasure in marring his perfection."

given to justify routine circumcision of the foreskin and have
debunked them all. They explain the importance of this normal human

medically justify the ancient and unnecessary practice of circumcision
in this modern era of enlightened medicine."

Consent given by a person of good will to circumcise a baby can never be -- and never has been -- informed. The only informed choice possible for a person of good will to make about the foreskin of a baby is the choice that the baby himself, when old enough to understand what his foreskin is and what would have been done to it he had been circumcised, is most likely to be glad was made for him. That choice, beyond any reasonable doubt, is to let him keep his foreskin intact.

"Sharing the awareness that the human penis is designed correctly the way it normally comes into the world: with its foreskin intact; that a male's possession of his own penis -- including his foreskin -- is his inviolable birthright; and that a child's chances for health and happiness throughout his life are greater -- by far -- if he is allowed to keep all of the penis he is born with."
